PAMBA was created in 1999 to promote marine biotechnology in the Americas as a promising route to achieving sustainable socio-economic benefits from marine resources
In furtherance of this goal, and with a tight focus on the Americas, PAMBA will:

Facilitate personal and organizational interactions and information exchange.

Sponsor exchange of scientists, managers, faculty, and students among all organizations.

Engaged in marine biotechnology activities.

Encourage the development of commercial marine biotechnology

Sponsor conferences and workshops on marine biotechnology and publish the proceedings.

Sponsor and organize special advanced courses in marine biotechnology.

Contribute to improvements in the teaching of marine biotechnology.

Graduated at University of Havana as Engineer in Nuclear Energy, 1986 Biological Science Ph.D. Havana University, 1996 Titular Professor of the Biochemical Department, Havana University, 2003 Titular Academic of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, 2012 Director of Agricultural Biotechnology at the Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Havana, Cuba Dr. Mario Pablo carries out research in fish immunology and veterinary research with an applied outcome.

Brian Dixon

Treasurer
B. Sc. 1981-1985. Wilfrid Laurier University , Honors Biology M. Sc. 1985-1988. University of Guelph , Molecular Biology and Genetics Department Ph. D. 1990-1993. Dalhousie University , Department of Biology Professor in Department of Biology, University of Waterloo Professor Brian Dixon carries out research in fish immunology and is a world expert on environmental effects on fish immune systems.

Alan Kuzirian

Alan came to the Marine Biological Laboratory, University of Chicago, in 1979 as a post-doc in the Lab of Biophysics, NIH-NINDS, then was senior staff fellow until the lab returned to NIH in 1987. He became an MBL Assistant Scientist in 1987 and then was promoted to Associate Scientist. He served as Scientific Director of the Marine Resources Center from 1992 to 1995. Alan has been Chair of the IACUC since 1999, and was named IBC Chair in 2015.
